The Insulin Balance Diet encourages reducing foods that can make it more difficult to maintain balanced blood sugar, particularly foods high in added sugars and refined carbohydrates.
Foods to consider limiting include:
Sugary beverages, such as soda and sweetened drinks
Candy, pastries, and sweets high in added sugars
Refined grains, such as white bread and many highly processed cereals
Ultra-processed snacks
Foods high in saturated or trans fats
Products containing large amounts of added sugars
This doesn't mean carbohydrates need to be avoided completely. Whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables provide carbohydrates along with important nutrients and fiber. The focus should be on carbohydrate quality, portion size, and overall meal balance.
If you have diabetes, insulin resistance, or another condition affecting blood sugar, consult a healthcare provider or registered dietitian before significantly changing your carbohydrate intake or eating pattern.
